Construction Begins On New Railroad Bridge

(Bismarck, ND) — Construction on the new BNSF Railroad Bridge over the Missouri River in Bismarck has begun. The bridge is being built to replace the aging Bismarck-Mandan Rail Bridge. The start of the project has been proceeded by a nearly three-year environmental review by the U.S. Coast Guard, along with the issuance of two construction permits. Railroad officials say they need a bridge that will last 100 years, and the project is expected to cost 100-million dollars.
