Current Year Worst For North Dakota Air Quality

(Bismarck, ND) — Officials say 2023 has been the worst year for air quality in North Dakota history. North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality director Jim Semerad confirmed the statistic, adding that its the department’s job to make sure state residents are aware of the air pollution. The source of the pollution this year is wildfires that have been burning in Canada, sending copious amounts of smoke across the border into the state. Officials are asking the public to stay indoors and reduce physical activity on poor air quality days.
