(Carrington, ND) — Carrington daycare provider Patricia Wick has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing 5-month-old Reed Nelson. The baby died at Wick’s unlicensed at-home daycare in 2022, and the medical examiner said Nelson died from having his head shaken. However, Wick’s lawyer claimed the baby’s death was an accident, and happened as a result of injuries he suffered when Wick tripped over a chair while holding him. Wick will be eligible for parole in about 17 years when she is 66 years old.
