Deadly Grand Forks Shooting Ruled Self-Defense

(Grand Forks, ND) — Prosecutors have ruled a deadly shooting at an apartment building in Grand Forks as an act of self-defense. The Grand Forks County State’s Attorney’s Office has cleared 24-year-old Javon Lowery of wrongdoing in the shooting death of 53-year-old Dwight Cross. It happened in the hallway of the Stanford Manor apartments back in April, when Cross pointed what appeared to be a gun at Lowery, prompting Lowery to fatally shoot him. It was later determined the weapon that Cross had was a pellet gun, but it was indistinguishable from a real gun.
