(Richland, ND) — A Richland County Sheriff’s deputy who was seriously injured in a rollover crash near Dwight is now being charged with distracted driving. Thirty-year-old Steven Nelk was driving along County Road 81 on November 14th when he dropped his phone on the floor board and went to pick it up, causing him to drive off the road into a ditch. The car vaulted over a driveway and rolled twice before coming to a stop. Nelk was transported to Sanford Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
