(Grand Forks, ND) — The trial of the man accused of killing 67-year-old Douglas Elgert in his Grand Forks apartment is now underway. Elgert reportedly took in 40-year-old Kindi Jalloh, who was homeless, before he was found stabbed and beaten to death last May. The prosecution says Jalloh is the man responsible for the murder, while the defense says he panicked and threw away bloody evidence out of fear that police would pin the crime on him. The jury heard the opening statements on Wednesday, and the trial is scheduled to continue into next week.
