(Ellendale, ND) — A new data center in Dickey County is hoping to become annexed by the town of Ellendale. Applied Digital started operation last year about a mile west of Ellendale, where it uses hundreds of computers for cryptocurrency mining and is expanding to include artificial intelligence computing. Ellendale Mayor Don Flaherty says a public hearing will be held next week on the annexation, which he called “a significant step forward for the long-term growth” of Ellendale. A new housing project is also expected to be completed in Ellendale early next year to help accommodate workers at Applied Digital.
