(Bismarck, ND) — The deleted emails of North Dakota’s late attorney general have been recovered as part of a case against a former state senator Ray Holmberg. He’s accused of receiving images of child sexual abuse and traveling to Europe with the intent of sexually assaulting a child. Current attorney general Drew Wrigley says they were able to recover about two-thousand state emails from a backup from Wayne Stenehjem’s personal cellphone. Those emails could be instrumental in the case against Holmberg, whose trial is set to begin next month.
