Enhanced Oil Recovery Could Bring In 1-Billion Barrels

(Bismarck, ND) — Researchers from the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center say Enhanced Oil Recovery technology could dramatically extend the Bakken oil boom. The technology involves injecting liquids or gases deep into the earth, which loosens up hard-to-reach oil. Experts say Enhanced Oil Recovery would likely produce one-billion barrels of oil over a 20-year period. Earlier this year, the Energy and Environmental Research Center received eleven-point-six-million dollars from the Federal Department of Energy for the study of Enhanced Oil Recovery technology.
