It happened late Wednesday afternoon at an oil well owned by Formentera Operating LLC, and several large oil tanks caught on fire after the explosion. Firefighters arrived at the scene and used foam and water to keep the blaze under control, and it took nearly four hours for the oil to burn off. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the explosion is being investigated.
