Family Speaks Out On Belcourt Man Killed by Police

(Belcourt, ND) — The family of a Belcourt man killed Sunday in an officer-involved shooting says he had struggled with depression and was suicidal. Officials say 32-year-old Jordan Parisien was shot after he was doing U-turns on Highway 5 while trying to get officers to chase him. The only shots fired came from a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer. The man’s sister, Brittany LaFountain, tells Valley News Live that police shot him 16 times when he didn’t even have a loaded gun. Video of the shooting appears to show the officer firing multiple rounds from an assault rifle.
