(Fargo, ND) — Fargo Schools Superintendent Rupak Gandhi is putting student safety ahead of the state’s new transgender policies. Gandhi addressed the Fargo School Board during its regular meeting last night. The emotional address came just one day after Governor Burgum signed a new bill prohibiting schools from requiring teachers to acknowledge students’ preferred pronouns, among other restrictions for transgender students. Gandhi noted increasing suicide rates among students across the country, adding that LGBTQ students are more than four-times more likely to attempt suicide.
