(New Town, ND) — Four people have been injured in an oil tank explosion and fire near New Town. The explosion was reported early Tuesday at an oil facility close to Highway 23, and the New Town Fire Department was called to the scene. Authorities reportedly evacuated a nearby apartment complex due to fears of a possible second explosion, and a nearby roadway was closed down. One of the people who was injured was airlifted to a hospital, two others were transported via ambulance, and a fourth was able to walk away with minor injuries. Fire crews eventually got the blaze under control, and officials are looking into what caused the explosion.
