Gov. Grants Emergency Teachers Ruling

(Bismarck, ND) — Student teachers can temporarily serve as teachers of record under an emergency ruling by Governor Doug Burgum. The governor approved that request yesterday from the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board. The teacher shortage remains a crisis in many districts with over 90 of North Dakota’s 167 school districts short-staffed. Under the ruling student teachers can lead classes in districts with shortages.
