(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Department of Health and Services has a new person at the helm. Governor-elect Kelly Armstrong on Wednesday appointed Dirk Wilke as the department’s interim director. Wilke is the current executive director of public health for HHS and will head the department during the transition period. He replaces HHS commissioner Wayne Salter, who was appointed to the role by Governor Doug Burgum in January. Both Salter and State Health Officer Dr. Nizar Wehbi announced last month they won’t be continuing in their roles.
