(Grand Forks, ND) — A Grand Forks County hiring freeze is being approved for 2025. The Commission voted 3-2 in favor of the freeze at its meeting Tuesday. Commissioner Terry Bjerke says the freeze means department heads will have to explain before the commission why an open position needs to be filled — even if it’s within a department’s approved budget. He cautioned the freeze does not mean the county will stop hiring.
