(Grand Forks, ND) — The Violence Against Women’s Act will have a focus on a North Dakota city. Attorney General Merrick Garland approved Grand Forks as one of 78 communities to be prioritized in an effort to address intimate partner gun violence. The Department of Justice will team up with Grand Forks and other jurisdictions through the U.S. Attorney’s offices and ATF to come up with a plan to reduce intimate partner firearm violence as well as to prioritize the prosecution of domestic violence offenders prohibited from owning firearms.
