(Grand Forks, ND) — The City of Grand Forks has decided it will not allow accessory dwelling units on properties. Accessory dwelling units, also known as guest houses or granny flats, are small living spaces built separately from the main house on a property. The decision comes following a request for the city to amend its zoning codes to allow for these structures. City council members said the amendment would increase property density in the city, and the sudden changes in zoning wouldn’t be fair to local property owners.
