(Hillsboro, ND) — The Hillsboro School District is facing a half-million dollars’ in budget cuts. Superintendent Jon Dryburgh says the reason is a smaller budget carryover due to a shrinking student enrollment.
He says the district graduated a class of 44 in the Spring of 2023, then brought in a kindergarten class last year of 27 kids. He adds the state per-pupil payment was down about 290-thousand dollars last year, compared to where the anticipated budget would be. A special meeting is scheduled in a few weeks to discuss the cuts.
