WASHINGTON D.C. – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), joined Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), ranking member of the ENR Committee, this week in introducing legislation to protect multiple use policy on federal lands and block the Bureau of Land Management’s proposed Public Lands Rule.
“The Biden administration is continuing to propose burdensome regulations and take a one-size-fits-all approach to managing federal lands,” said Hoeven. “The Bureau of Land Management needs to withdraw this proposal, which locks away federal lands and hamstrings the multiple uses North Dakotans depend on including grazing, energy production and recreational purposes.”
In addition to Hoeven and Barrasso, the legislation is cosponsored by Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.). Hoeven is leading a Congressional comment letter opposing the proposed rule, and intends to file a Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval should the BLM finalize this or a substantially similar rule.
