Ice Jam On The Missouri River Causing Minor Flooding

(Bismarck, ND) — Governor Doug Burgum received a commitment from the Army Corps of Engineers to reduce flows from Garrison Dam upstream of an ice jam. The ice jam is causing minor flooding in Bismarck and Mandan, and state agencies are coordinating with local and federal partners to fix the problem. The North Dakota National Guard launched an aerial operation to try to dislodge the ice. Burgum has also signed an executive order declaring an emergency for Burleigh and Morton counties.
