Increased Fire Risk Expected in Western N.D.

(Bismarck, ND) — Officials say the fire risk in the western part of the state will be higher today because of elevated winds. Firefighters made some progress against two large wildfires yesterday. North Dakota Forest Service Management says the Elkhorn fire near Grassy Butte is 50-percent contained, while the Bear Den on the Fort Berthold Reservation is 45-percent contained. Cooler temperatures are expected next week, which could help crews get a better handle on the fires.
