(Williston, ND) — North Dakota could become a source for untapped critical minerals. The state Department of Mineral Resources, along with State Geologist Ed Murphy, has announced that the state’s Geological Survey has discovered a deposit of critical minerals in the Williston Basin. A sampling project determined that North Dakota has many deposits of critical earth elements that haven’t yet been tapped. Critical minerals are essential to the economic or national security of the states where they are found. Much of the supply of the valuable rare minerals currently comes from South China.
