(Bismarck, ND) — State lawmakers are pushing for an increase to North Dakota’s minimum wage. Currently, the state does not have its own minimum wage, but abides by the federal standard of seven-dollars-and-25-cents. That’s what it’s been since 2009, on the federal level, and many North Dakotans agree that it’s not a livable wage. State House Representative LaurieBeth Hager notes that’s about 15-thousand dollars a year working a full 40 hours a week, every week, adding that most apartments for rent in Fargo are a minimum thousand dollars a month, and that just doesn’t add up.
