Libraries Reacting To Book Ban Bills

(Bismarck, ND) — Public libraries in North Dakota are reacting to Governor Burgum’s decision on two book ban bills. The governor signed a bill yesterday that will require public libraries to remove explicit material from the children’s section. Burgum vetoed a separate bill that would have made it a misdemeanor for librarians to display content that contains explicit material that is harmful to minors. Workers at the Bismarck and Mandan libraries say their children’s sections already don’t include explicit materials. The state Senate has overridden the governor’s veto. That bill is now headed to the House for a final vote.
