(Jamestown, ND) — A Jamestown man who fatally struck a bicyclist with his vehicle has been sentenced. Seventy-six-year-old James Lees pleaded guilty to negligent homicide earlier this year in connection with the death of Timothy St. John. Last June, Lees hit St. Johns with his vehicle as he was biking along Dakota Highway 20, and the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. On Monday, Lees was given a five-year suspended sentence, with three years of probation and 200 hours of community service. A lawsuit filed by the victim’s family seeking damages from Lees is currently pending.
