(Grand Forks, ND) — A March trial date looks likely for a Grand Forks man accused of firing shots at officers who were trying to arrest him. Jeffrey Simpson Jr. has been charged with 12 felonies including attempted murder after he opened fire on six Grand Forks SWAT team members last March. They were on the scene because Simpson’s ex-girlfriend said he had threatened to kill her while holding a gun to her head. Simpson pleaded not guilty to the charges in June.
