(Minot, ND) — Students at Minot High School are learning about the effects of drunk driving following a mock demonstration. The demonstration was held on Thursday in the parking lot at Jim Hill Middle School. Minot professional education teacher Alexis Hute and Trinity Health Paramedic Captain Luke Zabka teamed up for the event. The Minot Fire and Minot Police Departments were also among those who participated in the demonstration. The demonstration showed everything that takes place from the time a drunk driving crash is called in to the actions of the first responders and other emergency personnel. Multiple 9-1-1 calls were played over a loudspeaker at the beginning of the demonstration. Hute said she saw similar demonstrations in California and wanted to do this in Minot because she’s had “students impacted by drunk driving” and “personal experiences with family.”
