More Passenger Rail Service Could Be Coming To North Dakota

(Undated) — A Montana group is trying to bring more passenger rail service to North Dakota. The Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority wants to restore the old North Coast Hiawatha rail line that ran between Chicago and Seattle until it was shut down in 1979. So far, city leaders in Bismarck, Mandan, and Burleigh County have signaled their support for the project. Sara Otte with the North Dakota Marketing and Tourism Department tells KX-News this new route would provide amazing scenery and include access to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Organizers say it’s likely the service won’t be ready until 2032
