(Undated) — Battery materials research is taking a step forward in the Peace Garden State. The U.S. Department of Defense has announced a partnership with Talon Metals in North Dakota. It’s part of Senator John Hoeven’s plan to help reduce reliance on battery and mineral supplies from China and Russia. The research will include methods for nickel recovery from U.S. domestic mineral formations. Last year, Hoeven secured 115-million dollars in funding from the Department of Energy for Talon Metals to build a battery materials manufacturing facility in Mercer County.
