ND Filmmakers Demand Call For Investigation Into Motion Picture Production Grants

(Bismarck, ND) — A group of North Dakota filmmakers is demanding answers from the governor on how the state awarded Motion Picture Production and Recruitment grants. They want to know why Canticle Productions received seven-thousand dollars in taxpayer-funded grants from the North Dakota Department of Commerce. Canticle asked the payment be made to its non-profit arm “Grain of Wheat Productions,” which did not exist when it applied. After three months without a response from the Governor’s office, the video producers have submitted letters to the North Dakota Attorney General’s office, the State Auditor’s office, and the State Procurement Office demanding accountability.
