(Williston, ND) — Oil companies in North Dakota are cutting back production because of the recent wildfires. Wildfires in western North Dakota have burned over 110-thousand acres. The director of the North Dakota’s Department of Mineral Resources, Nathan Anderson, says state regulators asked oil companies last Saturday to shut down wells in areas with high fire danger, and as of Thursday, about 125 wells were still not operating. Anderson says regulators will be monitoring weather conditions into the weekend to determine if additional restrictions are needed.
