ND Whooping Cough Cases Jump From 18 In 2023 To 148 In 2024

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota Health and Human Services reports whooping cough cases in the state jumped more than 800-percent from 2023 to 2024. According to HHS data, there were 148 reported cases of whooping cough in 2024, compared to only 18 the year before. The last time the number of cases reached triple-digits in North Dakota was in 2012 when there were 214 reported cases. HHS officials say women who are pregnant need to make sure to get the recommended vaccines.
