New Agriculture Bill “Levels The Playing Field” With Neighboring States

(Bismarck, ND) — A bill meant to grow North Dakota’s animal agriculture sector is now law. Governor Doug Burgum signed House Bill 1371 modernizing the state’s current corporate farming law. Burgum said the bill levels the playing field with other states by expanding animal agriculture with environmental stewardship. Only between 16 and 18-percent of North Dakota’s ag receipts come from livestock, compared to 40 to 50-percent in neighboring states, according to the Agriculture Commissioner.
