(Bismarck, ND) — Three new emergency sirens are being installed in Bismarck. The purpose of the sirens is to alert the public to ongoing emergencies, particularly severe weather events such as tornadoes. Two of the sirens will be located in the Elk Ridge and Silver Ranch subdivisions, and a third will be located along 57th Avenue North. According to Bismarck Emergency Manager Gary Stockert, the growth of the city makes more sirens necessary, as the construction of new neighborhoods increases the likelihood of a tornado impacting part of the Bismarck-Mandan metro area.
