(McClean County, ND) — The McClean County Sheriff’s office used their new “grappler” system to help end a car chase Monday morning. Authorities say the chase began when a driver took off down Highway 83 from an attempted traffic stop. A deputy launched the grappler and snagged the back tire of the suspect’s vehicle, but both the deputy and suspect spun out and crashed into a ditch. The deputy’s cruiser flipped in the wreck, and he suffered minor injuries. The suspect, identified as Colton Lauer, was arrested after a brief foot chase.
