New Wildfire in Bowman County; Wildfires Break Out Near Fargo

(Fargo, ND) — Firefighters continue to fight wildfires across the state with a new one in the southwestern part of the state and several spreading rapidly in the Fargo area.

Brush fires were reported Thursday near Horace, Buffalo and Walcott. Officials say high winds and dry conditions are helping to fuel the fires, which destroyed a bridge and a barn in Richland County. A portion of state highway 46 south of Horace had to be closed due to dense smoke.

Meantime, a new fire in Bowman County near Scranton broke out yesterday afternoon. In addition to the North Dakota Forest Service, fire departments are responding from Scranton, Reeder, Bowman and Hettinger to try and contain the fire.
