(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota cattle sales are at an all-time high. The North Dakota Beef Commission says sales are up because of a shortage of cattle caused by drought conditions and other factors. Executive Director Nicole Wardner told Inforum, “We’re just moving everything through the chain as quickly as possible, instead of loading a bunch of freezers full of beef.” She said it’s not a great situation in the short run, but in the long run it will “make sure that our demand remains high.” The commission says North Dakota cow herds will be rebuilt once prices go down, which they expect will come in the next 18 months.
