North Dakota Court System Dealing With Heavy Caseloads

(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Court system continues to see a spike in caseloads. In the South-Central District, cases going to trial had a small decrease, but criminal filings last year were up by four-percent from 2022. Felony charge filings also increased by six percent. The Supreme Court also saw its third year of increasing cases after hitting an all-time low in 2020. Three new judgeships were added between Fargo and Grand Forks to help alleviate the increase in that area.
