(West Fargo, ND) — A cloud-based software program used by North Dakota schools has been hacked. PowerSchool keeps track of student records and family communications for K-12 schools across the state. Last night, West Fargo Public Schools released a statement saying “Out of an abundance of caution,” the North Dakota Information Technology Department has temporarily locked down access to PowerSchool for any user who is not connected to the state network. The statement comes after a nationwide data breach was discovered that allowed someone to gain access to private student information.
