North Dakota Sees Increase In Elder Scams

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota is seeing an increase in scams targeting the elderly. One scam frequently seen in the state involves scammers posing as family members asking for financial help. The FBI is recommending use of family code words to dissuade scammers. A recent FBI study shows that senior citizens in the United States lost three-point-one-billion dollars to scams in 2022 alone.
