North Dakota University System Suffers Social Engineering Attack

(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota University System was attacked by a social engineering scheme last month that could have cost N-D-S-U and B-S-C more than 5-million-dollars. Social engineering is when someone is tricked into releasing information to be used for fraudulent purposes. The university says that fortunately, the transaction was caught and stopped before it was processed. The state board is now reviewing the hacking incident and looking at the training protocol for employees within the State University System to see what changes need to be made.
