(Belcourt, ND) — The officer involved in a recent fatal shooting on the Turtle Mountain Reservation has been placed on administrative leave. Tribal officials are not naming the officer, who is a federal employee with the Bureau of Indian Affairs’ Office of Justice Services. The FBI is leading the investigation into the shooting of 32-year-old Jordan Parisien. Parisien was reportedly doing U-turns on Highway 5 near Belcourt on Sunday when officers began pursuing him. A viral video of the incident shows Parisien getting out of his truck followed by the officer firing a rifle at him.
