Police Officer Assaulted During Traffic Stop

(Grand Forks, ND) — A Grand Forks man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer who pulled him over. Early Monday, Officer James Opp pulled over Brian Pyle on suspicion of drunk driving. Pyle then attempted to run away, and reportedly assaulted the officer when he tried to stop him from fleeing. Pyle was apprehended a few blocks away, and is being charged with DUI, fleeing, and assault on a police officer. The officer sustained minor injuries.
