Police Shortages Impacting Tribal Lands And Residents

(Fort Yates, ND) — A shortage in law enforcement officers is affecting tribal lands across North Dakota. The Bureau of Indian Affairs says they are struggling to find help. Due to the staffing crisis, the federal government is forced to investigate crimes in places like Fort Yates and Standing Rock. The Bureau says the shortage is not only a hazard for the community, but also for their own officers.
