(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota voters have rejected a measure that would have prohibited state and local governments from levying taxes based on a property’s value. KVLY says over 63 percent of North Dakotans voted against Measure 4 in Tuesday’s election. Had the measure passed, North Dakota would have to replace over a billion dollars starting next year to help pay for public schools and other state-funded departments. Backers of the ban released a statement saying the measure was defeated because of unfounded fears.
