Public Hearing Set For Input On Reservation Redistricting Map

(Bismarck, ND) — A legislative committee plans to hold a public hearing to get your input on the next steps for drawing a redistricting map. This comes after a federal court ordered the state to create and approve a new map by December 22nd that complies with the Voting Rights Act, and considers the impact on the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Spirit Lake Indian Reservations. They estimate it could take several days to come up with a map that the legislature and courts will accept. The meeting will be held in Bismarck, though a date hasn’t been set yet.
