Rail Cars Removed After Fiery Carrington Derailment

(Carrington, ND) — Crews have cleared all 29 rail cars from the site of a fiery train derailment near Carrington. It happened last Friday, sending a huge column of smoke and fire into the air, and prompting a brief shelter-in-place order for people living nearby. The train cars were carrying hazardous substances including plastic pellets, anhydrous ammonia, and methanol, and cleanup efforts are ongoing. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Railroad Administration are investigating the derailment.
