Roosevelt Park Zoo Lion Cub Gets A Name

(Minot, ND) — The first lion cub to be born at the Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot in 44 years now has a name. The eight-week-old cub will be called Jakiya, [[ Ja-KY-uh]] which means “brave and true” in Swahili. Zookeepers say the cub will likely stay in the day room for a couple more weeks before the staff slowly eases her into the larger exhibit.
