(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota Senate lawmakers is moving forward with a House Bill that would place holds on certain government records. The bill requires state departments to save all emails from department heads and officers for two years after their departure from an appointed role. Colleges and the state board of higher ed must hold onto “non-student” emails for at least a year. The bill would drafted after former attorney general Wayne Stenehjem’s emails were all deleted after his death last year while in office. The measure will take effect July 1st.
